The Labour leader's pledge to redefine Islamophobia as an aggravated crime will be cheered by child sex-grooming gangs in Rotherham and election-stealers in Tower Hamlets:

’Tis the election season, so promises fall from the lips of our leaders over key voting groups like blossom from an apple tree. Some promises are more cynical and stinky than others.
Take Ed Miliband, who told Muslim News last week that a future Labour government would outlaw Islamophobia, making it an aggravated crime.
“We are going to make sure it is marked on people’s records, with the police to make sure they root out Islamophobia as a hate crime,” said Miliband. “We are going to change the law so we make it absolutely clear of [sic] our abhorrence of hate crime and Islamophobia. It will be the first time that the police will record Islamophobic attacks right across the country.”
This is deeply disturbing. Do you reckon the Labour leader has read any of the recent reports into child-sex grooming gangs? You know, the ones that concluded that the main reason local authorities, police and social services did nothing to protect thousands of young girls from abuse at the hands of mainly Pakistani men was because they were afraid of appearing racist?
What about Britain’s first elected Muslim mayor, Lutfur Rahman, who was clearly running Tower Hamlets in east London as if it were some personal fiefdom in Bangladesh?
Rahman was accused of “subverting democracy” and “systematically stealing votes”. Muslim voters were warmed that it was “unIslamic” not to vote for him. Anyone who dared to challenge the Mayor’s shocking behaviour was branded – wait for it – Islamophobic.

Anyone with a pension is significantly richer as it's likely to be mostly invested in equities and or bonds. Both of which increased in value hugely, thanks to QE.
CENTRICA, which most will know as British Gas announced a profit warning in Feb. not exactly profiteering.
Mortgage rates at historical lows
Financial services account for a large proportion of income tax. As my MP said this week on my doorstep...it's the backbone of the countries tax receipts without which there would be more income tax at an individual level and/or huge cuts to public services.
I'm sure the Nissan workers in Sunderland are more than grateful for 'foreign money'.

The methodology of the banking bail-out was worked out by the Labour Party, implemented by the Labour Party and is still supported by the Labour Party.
You'll be surprised to learn that I mostly agree with you, though.

Forgetting the potentially racist angle that this thread tends to follow, perhaps we should look at the lengths politicians ALL go to.
After all, we are all fucked over by austerity because our governments, of both hues, chose to bail out the banks with fuck all ability to dictate that it not happen again.
They stayed rich, except the poor sods who worked the branches, whilst we got hit with no pay rises, increased profiteering by utility companies, higher rates for loans - lining their pocketbook still further - and all manner of shit that didn't hit the wealthiest but smashed the families working on minimum wage who struggle to make their rent/mortgage.
Cameron and, to a lesser, but still powerful extent, are in thrall to the City and foreign money.
Everything is for sale. Who do we pay the bill to when the lights are too expensive to keep on?
